SCHOOLS OF THE HUDSON VALLEY
The Hudson
Valley region offers
excellent public school systems and many private school options. The public
school districts often encompass several towns and students in these rural
areas travel to and from school on buses. When looking to purchase property in
a specific school district it is wise to check the actual tax map for the
school district and not merely rely on the town name. Columbia
County has five public school
districts: Hudson, Taconic Hills, Chatham, Germantown,
and New Lebanon. Greene County has six public school districts: Cairo-Durham,
Catskill, Coxsackie-Athens, Greenville,
Hunter-Tannersville, and Windham-Ashland-Jewett. There are thirteen public
school districts in Dutchess
County.
Property taxes are affected by a school district size and
budget. A Comprehensive Information Report on each New York State
public school district by county is available online at http://emsc33.nysed.gov/repcrdfall2003/links/nycounty.html
